The Arbiter of Divinity punishes rushed damage more than weak gear. My first attempts ended during the opening sword sweep because I kept retreating instead of moving through the boss, and the later summon phase exposed a second problem: poor area coverage. Preparing the right defenses and keeping some spending room for upgrades through Path of Exile 2 Currency makes this encounter far more manageable, especially for characters still refining their endgame setup.
Prepare for the Fight Before EnteringUse the Atlas route that leads toward Unexpected Missions and the Precursor Fortress rather than opening the encounter as soon as the portal becomes available. The extra mapping gives you time to replace weak resistances, improve recovery, and test whether your damage works while moving.
An Ancient Rune that reduces interruption is valuable for slow attacks and long spell casts. Fast melee builds can often survive with movement alone, while minion and channeling builds gain much more from protection against small stagger effects. Do not copy a high damage setup blindly; this boss rewards uptime, not a large tooltip number that disappears after one mistake.
When the greatsword rises and the chime sounds, move diagonally forward past the boss's left side. Rolling straight backward usually leaves you inside the shockwave path. Passing the hip is safer and creates a short window for attacks from behind.
The rotating ray pattern is easier when you follow the inner beam clockwise. Crossing the arena early often causes two overlapping hits, while walking with the rotation preserves stamina and keeps your character near a useful attack angle. Ranged builds should resist the urge to remain at maximum distance; the outer edge can become the least forgiving position.
Handle the Shield Phase as a Timing CheckAt half health, the Arbiter enters a golden barrier and calls in three Empowered Zealots. The priority is not simply killing the first target. If one add remains while the others fall, its enhanced modifiers can make the next few seconds much more dangerous.
| Build style | Best approach | Main risk |
|---|---|---|
| Fast melee | Circle and strike | Overcommitting |
| Ranged caster | Clear the group | Poor movement |
| Minion build | Wide area control | Split targets |
Area damage is usually superior here, but a single target build should soften all three Zealots before finishing any of them. This approach feels slower, yet it produces fewer sudden deaths than focusing one enemy immediately.
Collect the Reward SafelyAfter the Arbiter falls, wait for the lingering holy ground to fade before crossing toward the northern dais. Interact with the Ancient Mechanism only when the arena is clear. The encounter is useful for players pushing the Precursor Vault path, but it is a poor farming choice for fragile characters that need repeated attempts. Spend your resources on survivability first, and consider buy cheap Path of Exile 2 Currency only when it supports a specific upgrade target.
