Diablo 4 Shout Setup for Barbarians by U4GM

Season of Hell's Legacy brings Diablo 4 back to some of its oldest ideas, but the Whirlwind Barbarian still feels built for players who just want to move. From level 1 through 70, it's a clean, low-fuss route: sprint into a pack, start spinning, and keep going. You don't need a perfect stash to make it work, either. A few solid rares and useful D4 items can carry the build a long way while you learn the new seasonal encounters and revisit familiar corners of Sanctuary.

Build Around Momentum

Whirlwind is the centre of the setup, so push ranks into it early and take the movement-focused upgrade first. That extra pace matters more than people think during the campaign. Once Fury starts feeling steady, lean into the option that improves damage in exchange for a higher cost. Add the channeling bonus and the Dust Devil upgrade, and regular packs begin to disappear behind you. Lunging Strike fills the gaps. Use the Fury gain from passing through enemies, pick up Berserking on critical hits, and take the Dust Devil effect when it becomes available. It is not flashy at first, but it keeps the run from stalling out.

Use Shouts With a Purpose

It's easy to press every Shout at once, then wonder why the next fight feels awkward. Try giving each one a job. Rallying Cry keeps Fury coming in and makes travel faster, especially with its duration and distance-based resource upgrades. War Cry is for tougher targets. Take the attack-speed option, the extra Berserking effect, and the Vulnerable upgrade, then use it when an Elite or boss is in front of you. Challenging Shout is your safety button. Its damage reduction is a real help when several enemies pile on, while the Fury-on-damage upgrade lets pressure feed your next spin.

Weapons, Ally Support, and Seasonal Powers

A Two-Handed Mace should lead the weapon setup, backed by its matching Expertise. Put Polearm Expertise in the Technique slot for another useful damage boost. On gear, start with Strength, weapon damage, maximum life, physical damage, critical hit chance, attack speed, resistances, and movement speed. Boots deserve special attention; slow boots make the whole build feel worse. Raheir also fits nicely here with Ground Slam, Raheir's Aegis, Raheir's Bastion, and Inspiration. For the seasonal path, Diablo's Splinter of Terror and Flames of Metus suit a fast-moving character well, particularly in Waking Nightmares and old-school areas such as the Den of Evil.

Keep the Run Moving

Open with Rallying Cry, gather enemies, and hold Whirlwind while Dust Devils chase anything left behind. If Fury drops, dash through a few targets with Lunging Strike instead of standing still. Against stronger packs, bring up War Cry, follow with Challenging Shout, then save Wrath of the Berserker for moments when the target needs to fall fast. With upgraded gear or a few well-chosen buy cheap D4 items options, the rhythm becomes even smoother, but the real trick is simple: stay mobile, keep Fury flowing, and don't let the spin stop.
