NC has opened the Launch Scale Test for Aion 2, creating a temporary environment where players can explore the upcoming MMORPG before Early Access. The event is free and open to everyone, making it one of the most accessible opportunities to experience the game before its permanent release. Easy Entry for a Large Audience

Download Before the First Session

The pre-download window opened at 6 a.m. PT on Wednesday, September 16 and remains available until 6 a.m. PT on Thursday, September 17. Players can use that period to prepare their installation before the live test begins.

Day 1 runs from 6 a.m. until noon PT on September 17. Day 2 takes place from noon until 6 p.m. PT on September 18. Since the available playtime is limited, having the game installed beforehand allows players to make better use of the scheduled sessions.

Two Days of Temporary Progression

Progression carries from Day 1 into Day 2. Players can therefore spend the first session developing a temporary character and return for the second session without losing that test progress overnight.

The progress does not survive beyond the event. At the end of Day 2, all test progression is wiped. Nothing transfers to Advanced Access or launch, so participants should not view the Scale Test as an early permanent start.

No Purchases or Trading

The commercial systems are intentionally disabled. Players cannot make purchases, and the shop, Quna, passes, memberships, and payment portals are turned off.

Trading is unavailable as well. The marketplace, Quna exchange, and player-to-player trading cannot be used during the test. Founder's Pack items are also excluded. These restrictions make the event more focused on gameplay and technical testing than on the economic systems that will matter after launch.

The Test Stops at Level 37

NC has set the maximum level at 37 for the Scale Test. Players can progress through the available range, but any content requiring a higher level remains outside the event.

The level cap keeps the temporary environment manageable while still providing enough progression to understand the game's basic structure. Players can explore the available content, test combat systems, and learn how their character develops without attempting to complete the entire progression path.

Cosmetics Are Kept Simple

The Closet system is disabled, so participants are limited to default outfits. Although this reduces customization, it further reinforces the limited nature of the Scale Test.

The event is not intended to reproduce every feature of the commercial version. Instead, NC has selected a controlled group of systems that can help evaluate performance while giving players enough gameplay to understand the general experience.

Preparing for Advanced Access

The transition after the test is different depending on the platform. Steam players must uninstall the Playtest App and download AION 2 separately before Advanced Access begins on September 30.

PURPLE users do not need to take additional steps. Since the next access phase begins soon after the Scale Test, players should be aware of these requirements before the temporary event closes.

Permanent Progression Comes Into Focus

The game's priorities will change once the permanent version is available. Players will no longer have their progress erased after a short test, and economic systems will become part of the broader experience.
