If you are mid-game, permanent upgrades like extra hive slots, key bees or strong tools almost always beat flashy cosmetic packs or tiny amounts of late-game mats that will just sit in your inventory. Do not be scared to hold your currency for a bit either. There is nothing wrong with waiting a few days, watching what higher level players actually value, then copying the parts that make sense for your hive instead of chasing every shiny thing.

Set a pace you can keep: maybe you do a focused boost session, a couple of boss runs and the important NPC quests, then log off before you get bored.
