Step 1: Create a backup company file
Method 1: Schedule automatic backups
- For this, you need to open the QB application.
- Head over to the File menu.
- Click on Switch to Single-User Mode.
- Next, you need to go back to the File menu.
- Now, choose the Backup Company option.
- Tap on Create Local Backup.
- After this, you are required to click on Local Backup.
- Tap Next, followed by moving to the Local Backup Only section.
- Click on the Browse option and pick a location where you will save the backup company file.
- At this stage, you need to choose Online and Local Backup.
- Tap on the Company Verification option.
- You will see a test running just to ensure the shape of the backup company file, whether it is in good shape.
- Choose OK when you are ready.
- Click on Save it now and then schedule future backups.
- Tap on the Next option.
- Then, if you don't need to save the backup now, click on Only Schedule future backups.
- Move to the checkbox stating, Save backup copy automatically when I close my company file.

Method 2: Create a backup of the company file manually
- Head over to the File menu.
- Click on Switch to Single-User Mode.
- Move back to the File menu and choose Back up Company.
- Click on Create Local Backup.
- Choose Local Backup.
- Tap Next and click on the Local Backup Only section.
- Select Browse, and then you will have to choose a location where you want to save the backup company file.
- This will also run a test to check if the backup company file is in good shape.
- Tap OK when you are ready.
- Choose Save it Now> Next.
Step 2: Restore the backup company file
- Take your cursor to the File menu.
- Click on Open or Restore Company.
- After this, you need to click on Restore a backup copy.
- Choose Next and then move to the Local Backup option.
- Click Next.
- Look for the backup company file in your computer; it will look like [Your company name].qbb.
