Path of Exile 2 has so many layers now that it is easy to lose an evening just tweaking one piece of gear, and once you start pushing real endgame content you quickly notice how much power is hidden outside the main tree, especially when you begin to factor in systems tied to PoE 2 Currency. The Arcane system is a big part of that. The Storm Charge passive in particular feels almost unfair when it is set up right, because you are getting a serious damage boost on your amulet without burning extra points on the giant tree, which means more room for defense, utility, or just raw damage elsewhere.
Understanding Storm ChargeStorm Charge lives in this awkward spot where it is insanely strong but slightly annoying to set up, so a lot of players either skip it or try it once and give up. It is tied to your amulet, and you do not just roll it like a normal affix. You are effectively slotting a special passive into the item, and once it is there, that amulet is locked into a very specific identity. That is exactly why people use their best rare or a carefully crafted unique for this, because adding Storm Charge on top of good stats feels like unlocking a higher gear for the whole build.
How Distilled Emotions Actually WorkThe catch is that you need three different bits of Delirium tech to make it happen: Distilled Fear, Distilled Terror, and Distilled Envy. They are not just flavour items; they behave more like precise ingredients, and the game cares about the order you use them in. Most players first meet them while slogging through Ultimate Delirium maps, where the fog ramps up and everything suddenly hits like a truck. If you stack scarabs and nasty map mods, you will see more of these emotions drop from Delirium mobs, but it is streaky. Some nights you are drowning in loot, other nights you feel like the system forgot you exist, and that is usually when people start hunting for easier options.
Farming Or Buying Your EmotionsIf you are not in the mood to live in the mist forever, Alva gives you another angle. In your Hideout she has a upgraded interface that acts like a small Currency Exchange window, letting you trade spare resources into specific Distilled Emotions. Prices change with supply and demand, so you will see Fear, Terror, and Envy shift around from day to day. It is not the cheapest route if you are broke, but if you are sitting on piles of stuff you never use, turning that into the exact emotions you need feels way better than praying to RNG.
Safe Setup For Storm ChargeOnce you have the full set, open the infusion window by right-clicking any emotion, then drop the amulet you want to upgrade into the top slot. This is the part where people misclick and regret it: in the row under the amulet you need to place Distilled Fear in the first slot, Distilled Terror in the second, and Distilled Envy in the third, going left to right. Do not rush it. Check the text box; it should clearly say Storm Charge before you do anything. If it shows something else, pull the items out and fix it. When you finally hit the infuse button, that choice is permanent, so treat it like you are committing your best piece of gear, because you probably are, and if you are still missing one of the emotions or short on currency, there is always the option to pick them up with a bit of extra PoE 2 Currency for sale instead of grinding another dozen maps.
